Magical You

In music, when we first begin learning, there is a tendency to imitate.  It's not a bad thing; it's part of the natural learning process.  However, in the long run, imitation is the kiss of death.  You can never really sound like someone else because you aren't in their head, neither do you have their experiences and their soul any more than they have yours.  So the best imitation will do for you is to make you a weak carbon copy of the original.  You need to find your own voice. You are a unique and beautiful individual, and your uniqueness expressed through the tunes you sing will create something new and magical, if only you will allow it to do so.
